Supermarket/Church

Sorry it is me again. We are arriving in Paris by Eurostar at about 9.00pm on a Saturday evening in October and travelling to our apartment near ,abbesses,. Does anyone know of any Supermakets in that area that stay open late?

Also does anyone know of any Evangelical (English speaking) church services taking place in Paris?

Many thanks for your antipated help.

It depends on HOW late you are arriving. There is a small market called Supermarche on r. Lepic and further up on Bvd de Clichy there is a Champion supermarket as well as a Monoprix. Along r. Abbesses near the Metro there are a few smaller little markets that sell fruit, and the basics like beverages, snacks, etc. Some of those are open later but it also depends on the day.

Most shops will be closed, but there will be small corner shops that should have any emergency supplies you would require. For Sunday shopping, some groceries, especially around the Sunday market areas are open Sunday am. For example, and if you are in a real pinch, the Shopi on rue de Sevres is open. It is very far from your apart, but it is a direct metro line, so not that bad, and you could check out the organic market on Raspail to make the trip worthwhile.

Brian

I have stayed on Rue Aristide Bruant, which is a sidestreet to Rue des Abbesses and the small groceries (often run by immigrants) on Rue des Abbesses are open till about 22H00 in the evening - maybe even later. I don't think that they have fixed hours, you know "comme-ci comme-ca"..... depending on how many customers there seem to be around.

But couldn't you bring whatever you wanted to buy from home (or buy it at the airport. I believe that Cotswolds is in England ?)

Gitte, did you end up staying at the Utrillo? If so, what did you think of it?

No, Mascara - I was in Hotel du Moulin right next to Utrillo. That was last year. This summer I stayed in Hotel de l'Esperance close to the small square at the lower end of Rue Mouffetard in the 5th.

Next summer I shall be back in Montmartre in this apt. (or so I hope - I have not received a confirmation from lodgis yet):

There are a couple of convenience stores near Theatre de L'atelier, a short walk from metro Abbesses. They stay open till 10:00. Sometimes 11:00 in the summer and if there is a show at theatre de l'Atelier. Those or others will be open on Sunday morning. Rue des Martyrs and rue Lepic which are the 2 major streets in the area that have boulangeries and everything else you could possibly need are open on Sunday morning.
