Paris hair salon - tipping?

Hello - I'm considering booking an appointment with David Mallett at his salon. Has anyone been there? And if so - is it customary to tip the owner of the hair salon? I would imagine so but thought I would check. I can't seem to find any other recommendations for hair stylists so if you're reading this and can recommend a good hairstylist and/or colorist - please share. Thanks for your help! 35 days and counting until Paris :)

i do not tip the owner.

For colorist, one of the best in the city if Grain de Beauté on Cherche Midi. What makes them different is that they use natural dyes, so your hair doesn't get fried by the chemicals.

No need to tip David Mallett. He is the owner, and he charges quite enough anyway.

Thanks so much phreak and frenchtwinkie. Have either of you heard good things about David Mallett? I'm not looking to do anything crazy - just someone who is good with knowing what cut suits me with the kind of hair i have and someone who will do a nice natural looking color. Thanks again!

I have not been to his salon; I find the prices too high, and my hair is pretty much hopeless, so it would be a real waste. But I have two friends who adore him. One of them is a New Yorker who always goes to him when she is in Paris. The other friend lives here; both of them are gorgeous blondes.

Hi,

I have had an appointment with David Mallet. His cut is not the best and colourist Remy is not high quality professional. The shampoo of Mallett has laureth sulfate and his serum has very bad chemical elements.David Mallett is the best in marketing and in socialising.David and his staff always say your cut and colour are beatiful and his friends write good articles about him.
