Tickets for Eiffel Tower

I have just looked at buying online tickets buy they are sold out for the time we will be in Paris. I also see that the queues for the elevators are very long.

Is it possible to buy tickets allowing us to climb the stairs to the second floor and then get the elevator to the top?

Would this save much time or should we just get to the queue early in the morning?

Yes, you can climb the stairs to the second level and then queue to get an extra ticket to the top via the lifts.

Please bare in mind reaching the second level means climbing 1,652 stairs, though so unlikely to be quick! Personally, I would say get in the queue before the Tower opens and head straight up to the top as you will have to queue on the second floor for your extra ticket anyway, plus walk all those steps!

There are 674 steps to the second level, so it's not as bad as the post above would suggest.

Thanks for your replies. Climbing the steps is no problem for us.

Just to check. We buy tickets at the base to climb the stairs, then buy tickets on the second floor to get an elevator to the top?
