I Had A Personal Shopper Take Me to the Paris Fabric Shops!

I stumbled on Barbara's site - stitchingupparis.sfr.fr - quite by accident doing research for my fall Paris trip. I had already been to the fabric district around Sacre Coeur, and so wanted to expand my horizons, and wow, did she ever!

She escorted me on two 1/2-day outings -- the first to various fabric, trim and vintage shops, and the second to the Vanves and Saint Ouen Flea Markets. We went to neighborhoods that most tourists probably don't see -- she custom-made the tours according to my interests, and I couldn't have been happier. Oh almost forgot we went to Deyrolle too, as a must see of course.

It was great to have an English speaker communicate with shopkeepers in French , and she gave me a map listing the places we visited, for future reference. She is a long-time quilter, needleworker and sewer, so we had much to discuss -- can't wait to return for more tours!

I don't think so, Pericoloso. DarlaTex has been a regular contributor to the forums for quite some time on a variety of topics. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt on this one.

:)

Incidentally, the link in post #3 doesn't work either... I think that the correct one (for those who wish to know!) is:

I'm inclined to agree with halwimsey, that this isn't spam. Darla, although it doesn't particularly interest me, this sounds like a refreshingly new and different recommendation for Paris. Thanks for posting.

I too don't think this is spam...sounds fabulous, it is definitely something that I would be interested in, I love fabrics and trims and have done a bit of shopping on my own!

Thanks for a link that works, her prices are very reasonable.

You should see the Russian forums - the amount of spam and self-promotion there is almost laughable. Keeps the regulars on their toes!
