Traveling to Paris and Nice in February

Hi,

My husband and I are planning a 9 day trip to Paris and Nice for our 1st wedding anniversary in February. Do you have any advice on inexpensive hotels in good locations? How much time to do you think we should spend in each city? We are looking forward to seeing Carnaval in Nice. Will that make it harder to find a hotel? Any advice or suggestions you can offer is much appreicated.

Thanks!

When in nice, make sure you see the old city and its flowers market. Do not miss Eze village. Also, it is well worth going over to Saint Paul de Vence and Mougins.

You should have no trouble finding a hotel room for Carnival in Nice. There did not appear to be a lot of tourists for Carnival, it appeared to be mostly local people. There were locals in the restaurants we ate also.

I stayed at Hotel Suisse last year for Carnival, at that time they had rooms for 70E(I do not know if these rooms had a view. Their rooms go up to over 100 Euros for a superior room with a view of the Reviera(for the higher price breakfast was included). 15 Quai Rauba Capeu hotelsuisse@wanadoo.fr

The hotel is very close to the daily market in Nice and Old Nice which are both worth seeing. There are also other villages closeby which others mentioned. One of my favorites is St. Paul.

Last years Carnival was 2/12 to 2/27. We bought tickets on line and picked them up at the tourist office upon our arrival.

The flower parade at night was wonderful. Since we bought our tickets early we had first row seats in the stands so we were in a good spot to catch the flowers. The day parade we bought tickets to stand along the parade route which was perfect for the day. We were able to get great closeup pictures.

There is also another festival in February held on Sundays in Menton. It is the lemon festival. I was absolutely amazed at the sculptures made out of lemons and oranges(houses, people, animals and many more) at the Jardin de Bioves.

There is also a parade with bands and floats. Very festive and very cold. If you go, be prepared for standing room only trains. People come from all over South of France.
