May 2007 New President protests

We will be travelling to France in July, and staying in a hotel near the Place de Bastille, where some of the riots and protesting of Pres. Sarkozy's election, have been. We are a family with a 6 year old and really want to avoid any danger like this, so I am considering changing my hotel to some where else in the city, while there is still time.

Can anyone confirm whether the protesting has quieted down? How bad is it, etc.?

This was discussed just a day or so ago, Blossom. Just type in riots in paris in the "search box "and you'll see what was said by those who know better.

All is calm now.

If you are travelling in july : 14th of july is our national day. Close to Bastille and every where in Paris, ther will be a lot of people and fireworks on the night.
