Car rental in France Pick up in Paris and drop off in MRS

HI, decided that renting a car is best for the 21 days we will be travelling through Europe. Which Car rental company would you suggest I use? Will be picking up car in Paris on 6/28/18 and dropping of in MRS on 7/11/18 total of 14 days. We will be arriving from London into the Gare Du Nord at 9am. Would like to pick up the car there or somewhere close by. We will be traveling from Paris to Germany, Austria and back to France. Will not be travelling in any other countries. Also heard that there is a type of gas/oil that is less expensive than regular gasoline. Any suggestions are welcomed. Again, thanks for all of your help.

Aren't you spending any time at all in Paris? It would make most sense to collect your car when you are ready to leave Paris.

Any of the major hire companies would be fine. As to the different type of fuel - many cars in Europe run on diesel; prices for that are cheaper than for petrol (gasoline) in France and diesel cars tend to use less fuel, but what type of fuel you get to use depends on the car you are allocated. Smaller cars may be petrol-powered but the larger the car the more likely it is to be diesel, for reasons of fuel economy.

Where are you from?

You can use the major companies' sites directly or use on the aggregate/search sites to compare. Depending on your home country (which you haven't indicated), some sites may be friendlier. For instance, https://www.autoeurope.com/ is a site that many U.S. citizens like to use.

Why don't you just fly to Germany from London? Or fly to CDG and pick up your car there? Or take the Eurostar to Lille and collect a car there? It makes no sense to travel into central Paris just to drive back out again.

Contact AutoEurope by phone (google for the '800' number). It is a US broker situated in Maine, with knowledgeable and experienced agents, which provide excellent service at very competitive rates. AutoEurope will arrange for a rental car for you at one of the local agencies in France and you will prepay in $$. We always rent our cars through AU.

Hertz France imposes a drop off fee if you drop off at a different location than you pick up, even within France. It is not a huge fee but something like 50 euro. If you get a better rate at Hertz, it may still be worth to rent there.

Diesel is always better than gas, unless you can get a hybrid.

Personal suggestion: get a GPS or a similar device. It will save you a lot of grief :)
