Besancon on a sunday

Does somebody have a suggestions on what to do on a sunday in July in Besancon?

We are a family with two teens, we don't like galleries and traditionals museum, but some museums are fun.

Well zoo is a kind description, it is a few goats and chimpanzees in the moat. However the citadelle is quite an experience as it is a Vauban fort, one of many he designed and built all over France for border protection. They are vast areas inside fortified walls and often have displays. When we went ther were about 18 rooms set up to display the oppression of Jews before and during the war, and the part of French partisans.

Vauban forts have been declared collectively as World Heritage sites. Quite an amazing thing to explore in France.

The later part of this post might give some idea of the town and fortress

The cathedral is well worth a visit too.
