Biking/Hiking in Ajaccio

We will be arriving on a cruise ship in mid-June for about 9 hours in Ajaccio. We're looking for local biking and hiking possibilities. I saw one or two bike rental options listed online.

Any suggestions for short local bike routes (avoiding highways if possible) or hikes around Ajaccio

Thanks for the help

Hey, i am afraid hiking would be too short as you will first need to go out of the city in the mountains to find some proper hiking possibilities. Renting bikes might make more sense as you will have sufficient time to escape the city. You could try those guys for EUR13 per day: http://www.corsicamoto.com/locv.php .. or even better give them a call, they might be able to arrange something nice for you. If you are on your own, dont worry there is no highway in Corsica (even redlights they dont have) and you could try this itinerary:

Provided the weather is NOT too warm and that there is NO wildfire risk, there are two walks you could easily do close to Ajaccio:

1) The sentier des crêtes:

2) Take no. 5 bus to the terminus near Parata at the end of the route des Sanguinaires, walk up and behind the gigantic car park, turn right and walk along the coast as far as you can in the time available towards the beaches of Capo di Feno. I've done it several times but can't remember the necessary time: I would hasard: a little over an hour to the first beach (petit Capo) and another half hour to the beach known as the "grand Capo", i.e. less than 4 hours for the return walking time. Return by same route. Allow PLENTY of time in case of problems with return bus, especially allow for possibly having to call a taxi.
