Corsica camping

Hi, my young family and i are heading to Europe for the summer and we have approx 2 weeks in Corsica around mid July. we are looking for very quiet campsites, we're not worried about lots of facilities or entertainment but we would like it to be within walking distance of the beach and a restaurant. we will probably explore the island during our time there and don't expect to stay in one place for our whole stay..

Basically we'd love to here of any little gems of campsites, small, quiet but well located and ideally off the beaten path a little

Thanks in advance for any help!

Nobody has answered your post, kimi. I suspect that's because nobody wants to be the bearer of bad news ...

I'm afraid that in mid July any campsite that is within walking distance of a beach is most unlikely to be quiet. Early July until end August are the busiest time of the year (school holidays for practically all of Europe). The campsites and the beaches will be very full indeed. Can you change your travel plans at all to end of June or early September?

If you really can't change your plans and since you mention young children, then have a look at the Golfo di Sogno campsite:

It is not small. On the contrary, it is very large, but precisely for that reason you may be able to find a relatively quiet pitch away from the central facilities (which include restaurant facilities and morning bread and pastry deliveries).

The beach there is very shallow so should be ideal for younger children. We camped there and found the beach almost too shallow for adults as you have to wade in quite a long way before you can swim properly. The views are stunningly beautiful.

Best of luck.

Hi Kimi,

I know of two campsites which are located right next to an excellent beach and within walking distance to more than 10 excellent restaurants and the charming village of Algajola.

They will as Celestina says not be quiet in mid July, but they are less touristy than in Calvi and the beach is long and wide, so it will not be crowded:

and

If you consider a stop in land there is a wonderful and very basic campsite half-way up the Restonica River (near Corte) with rock pools where you can swim: http://www.campingtuani.com/

Have a great vacation.

Kind regards

Thank you both for your replies, the campingtuani in particular looks perfect. I have actually got my timings out a little bit, we hope to be in Corsica in late june and early July so hopefully it will be a little quieter than in mid to late July

Given how beautiful the interior looks maybe that is going to offer a better bet for camping, giving us freedom to explore the coast line in search of those quiet and isolated coves and beaches.

Thanks again!

Kimi

Hello,

You didn't mention any particular area in Corsica where you prefer to spend your time.. so it's difficult to make a recommendation. :)

There are a lot of campsites, but I agree with the previous poster that most near the ocean are going to be very busy and probably noisy. (ie: Everyone and their dog (literally) wants to be by the water...)

So... I can only recommend one campground that I know is well-run, by the water, and is well located near the bottom of Cap Corse. It's run by my cousin's family, so I'm a little biased. ;-)

I hope that helps!
