Palombaggia or Santa Giulia?

Going to Southern Corsica the last week in June with toddler in tow. We're trying to decide between mini-villas/appartments overlooking either Palombaggia beach or Santa Giulia beach, but would be open to other suggestions. Will be renting a car and exploring the island as well, not *just* going to the beach. Both beaches look beautiful but I'm worried about the crowds in late June, especially at Santa Giulia. Thanks!

Hey Kattie,

Late June, crowds will not be that much of an issue - both beaches are just amazing so no real preference there...you should really focus on the quality of the accomodation. If you can, prefer the one which is closer from the beach. If you want to get a sense of all your options check out abritel.fr, homelidays.fr and leboncoin.fr - you will find tons of mini-villas and most of them will be available end of June.

Enjoy Corsica!!

You might also want to look at accommodation in and around Porto Vecchio as there is not a huge amount to do (other than the amazing beaches) at Santa Giulia and Palombaggio.

The drive from PV to the beaches is around 15-20 mins. Also if you base yourself in PV you can strike out and discover some of the beaches to the north (cala rosa, San Cirianu, Pinarellu)

We used PortoVecchio for a base for this area last September - it would be hard to go wrong anywhere, there are so many beautiful beaches. Our main problem, I am mortified to admit, was that we sometimes would set off for one of the "headline" beaches, spend some time there, blissfully, take a wander to the far end of the beach and find yet another beach that we then began to wonder, maybe this is actually - whichever beach we thought we were on! Not much of a problem though...

A lot of the beaches in this area, if you are going by car and arrive a bit later in the day, you may be parked some way back up the access road. An alternative is to arrive looking for lunch, and park at one of the beach restaurants. And another option in the area is to have lunch at the Sperone golf club, and walk through the grounds to any or all of 3 lovely bays. which means you can also return to a cool drink in a very refreshing environment - with full facilities - before you return to your car.
