Staying in the North of Tours North worth it?

Im planning on staying in Tours for a couple nights to exploe castles around it for the first week of July.

Etap Hotel seems to get high ratings for a budget hotel here, but seems to be located 5km north of the city center. Im not sure if its a pleasant area up there, or if i should spend a bit extra to stay south of the river.

Any advice would be great! thanks!

It depends what your expectations are. If you are simply looking for a place to sleep, having driven somewhere else for drinks and dinner, then the Etap at Tours Nord is alright, and at the price is difficult to beat.

However, if you want to walk out of your hotel and find lots of bars and restaurants, then you really need to be in the centre of Tours.
