motorcycle rentals in Loire

Has anyone rented a motorcylce to tour the Loire before? My husband and I rent them here for short vacations and would love to do that there. We will be there in May. What are your thoughts as far as the weather is concerned and availability of rentals?

I have toured the Loire on my OWN motorcycle a couple of times now, and it is a fine place for motorcycling. The French are very sympathetic to Bikers, many of them have had a scooter or put-put or small bike as youths, and larger bikes when older, so they are mostly on your side. Apart from the towns, roads across country are fairly empty, and you can swing along very nicely.

Finding places to rent from is more difficult, one company you could try is H-C Travel:

who have a worldwide network of bike holidays, tours and rentals at their fingertips.

A year or 2 ago, myself and No.2 visited a really good bike shop south of the river in Blois a Honda dealer, I can't see that they do rentals (their website is in French) but there are contact details for them, so you may be able to get in touch for some local 'Loire' biking knowledge.

IF you do decide to go for it, and as experienced bikers, I can't see why not, be sure of the rules of the road. ENSURE that you are well coverd for motorcycling in your travel insurance. Some insurance companies view it as a 'dangerous activity' and refuse to accept it as a valid means of transport.

Here are some other websites you may find of use:

Oh yes, forgot to mention that Europcar do motorcycle rentals now, although none directly in the Loire area, but you could organise from Nantes:

Thanks so much for the info. I have found info on renting bikes in Paris but I don't really want to have to drive in Paris at all on a bike. But if that is what I have to do I will.

Hi,

I'm located in Angers. I'm about to start a motorcycle rental here. I have a 650 v-strom, well equipped who is for rent. A second bike either a transalp or another v-strom will soon be added.

550 euros is the cost for a week rental including 1500 km. Also a 1000 euros for deposit is requested.

There is a direct tgv from Paris cdg to Angers. We can arrange pick up at the train sation.

If more question don't hesitate.

Thanks. Fabrice.

I am visiting Noyen-sur-sarthe in June, close enough to Angers or Le Mans. We want to hire some scooters but only for a few days and I cannot find anything anywhere on the net. I know you use bikes not scooters but was wondering if anyone knew of any places over there that hire them daily please?

Many thanks
