Dijon to Bordeuax - best way to travel

We are planning to travel from Dijon to Bordeaux on 31 of May. What is the best way to travel?

Option 1 is TGV from Dijon to Bordeaux. It is over 6 hours, via Paris. Honestly don't want to spend 6 hours in a train.

Option 2 is rent a car from Dijon. It is the same 6 hours, but maybe we can see more on the way? Any towns/villages worth visiting on the way?

Option 3 is to take a TER or TGV from Dijon to any towns directly on the way to Bordeaux, spend some time in the town. Then take a car from there to Bordeaux.

Thank you for your input.

It is not 6 hours by car from Dijon to Bordeaux: it is about 7.5 hours of solid driving, plus stops. Almost all of this would be along boring toll motorways that have all the interest and charm of a US Interstate. See www.viamichelin.com

I see. Thank you. I have come up with another solution. Take a train to Lyon, spend some time there. Then fly onto Bordeuax. While price wise it is a bit more expensive, instead of sitting for 6 hours on a train, we will get to see Lyon, even if it is for a few hours. What do you think? Any ideas for must see in Lyon?

You may also fly from Dijon to Bordeaux with Eastern Airways, about 1h40 flight in a small plane (29 seats) a bit noisy but very handy (took it last month and will take it again in April) www.easternairways.fr/destination/dijon

Have a good time in Dijon!

but at least in that time on the train, you can read, get up, walk around, have a nap, have a glass or two of wine, have a picnic, look out the window...

....and it's broken by the change in Paris -- because you'll have to change stations, as well as trains.

Nothing at all like spending an entire day slogging cross-country in the car.

I'll also point out that there is LOTS of wine produced in and around Lyon. Not necessary to trek all the way to Bordeaux just to visit more wine.
