travel from paris to carnac and then to london

we are travellling to paris in june 2014 and would like to go over to carnac to see the stones. we would prefer not to hire a car and prefer train, bus, etc. Is there a ferr nearby that would then take us to

england or do we have to go back to paris?

You could take a TGV train from Paris to Auray, and change there for an SNCF bus to Plouharnel. However, that is some 3 or 4 km from the stones, and I don't know the availability of buses. The train journey would take 4.5 to 5 hours.

Carnac is on the southern coast of Brittany, so there is no nearby ferry going north to the UK. There are ferries from St Malo, but getting there by train would take 3 hours or more, with 2 changes of train. It would probably be easier to go back to Paris and take the Eurostar.

There are flights from Nantes to London City Airport with CityJet, which would be a lot faster than trains or ferries but you would have to get to Nantes by public transport if you don't want to hire a car.
