Is there a direct train from San Sebastian to Biarritz?

We would like to do a day trip to Biarritz by the most user-friendly way since we only have 3 days in San Sebastian during the beginning of November. It is my understanding that we can take a Euskotren to Hendaye and then having to take another train into Biarritz?

Yes, you have to change from a Spanish train to a French one.

So there isn't a DIRECT train, is that correct -- since there's a change from one to another.

Just to underline that you take the EUSKOTREN train from Donostia-Amara station to Hendaia (Hendaye) then walk 50 yards to the SNCF (French Railways) station for the train to Biarritz. Do check the train times for the French side very carefully,as their service is very irregular and infrequent.

Everything in 'San Sebastian' refers to the city by its Basque name of 'Donostia'.

You're better off taking the local bus once you reach Hendaye. It runs often and is very inexpensive. There is a stop directly across the street from the train station.

Thanks very much for all of the clarification and suggestions. The local bus into Hendaye sounds like the way to go.

I would check the travel time for the coach to Biarritz. I was there asking the same question a few days ago and the advice was to take the 2 trains but not on a sunday. I dont know the travel time comparison but the advice given to me was the slight extra cost outweighed the time loss. I understand the train overall time is 70minutes.

Cheers

Ross
