Gijon - Biarritz

My wife and I have about 5/6 days to travel from Gijon to Biarritz. we will be in a campervan and intend to stay in Santander / San Sebastien for a night or two also. Any suggestions for towns or places (campsites / beaches etc) for a night or two stay?

Regards,

CIan.

There is a campsite in Santander on the Cabo Mayor peninsular near the Sardinero beaches: www.cabomayor.com

There are also campsites on the opposite side of the bay to Santander, in the town of Loredo: www.campingderbyloredo.com with long beaches and great seafood. You can catch a boat across the bay from Somo, a short walk down the beach from Loredo, to the city centre of Santander. This camp site gets popular in summer though, you'll need to book.

There is a nice campsite in the fishing village of San Vicente de la Barquera (nearly on the border with Asturias) too: www.campingelrosal.com This is within walking distance of the town centre for even better seafood, and next to the beautiful long beaches, again it gets busy in the height of summer, so book ahead.

Getaria port is very popular for camper vans, but except weekends, which can be too busy for parking.

From Sunday to friday, very nice area by the port beside the beach...

check this picture, from a camper vanner forum:
