Frankfurt to Strasbourg- stop along the way????

We are travelling from Frankfurt to Strasbourg and I would like to stop in a nice hotel along the way- can take a detour for a very nice place! I would like something with a nice restaurant! I did come across a place after reading someone else's post on the forum and it looked lovely, but now I can't find it!! I am sure it was along this route! Any recommendations for a lovely place are very welcome.

It might have been the Hotel des Berges with the Auberge de l'Ill restaurant - 3 Michelin Stars in Illhaeusern, about 30 mins drive south of Strasbourg. I can vouch that it's out of this world, but you'd need (probably) to win the lottery first!

Thanks- I should have mentioned our budget is about 200 euro maximum per night for the two of us. It seemed to be like e Chateau kind of place with recommended 'gastronomique'! They did a special offer for young persons under 30! I have spent all day trying to find it again!

This might have been it .... but it was a time limited offer, and that time is well and truly over. Sadly there's nothing ever offered in high season!!

You should still do well on 200 € per couple per night especially if breakfast is included in the price!

Yes, Baden-Baden is actually unmissable.

Both, a decent hotel and a good restaurant in the old town:

Near Buehl there is a very nice hotel in a ruined castle:

Heidelberg is also a nice stop. It's an hour south of Frankfurt pretty much a direct route from Strasbourg. Heidelberg can get pricey, but there are many choices for lodging. But the atmosphere, the castle, the Old Town, the Neckar River and bridges, the shops and the university area are lovely.

I'll second Heidelberg.

I love the Hollander Hof Hotel, right in the center of everything. There's no hotel restaurant, but there are a million restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance...plus the castle just up the hill.

Thanks everyone, I really lke the idea of Heidleberg! And of course I can't not experience the baths in Baden Baden at some stage in my life anyway!
