Virgin Train (Lon - Man)

I have been reading previous threads on this, however, I am somewhat still a little confused. So figured that the best way is to post my questions and seek responses from helpful TA.

I am intending to travel from Lon Euston to Man Picadilly and back to Lon Euston. I am definitely not looking at the Anytime tickets as they are out of my budget.

1) I understand advanced tickets are cheaper deals for advance purchases. However, are there any terms and conditions these advance tickets have that I should be aware of before booking? For example, does the advance tickets allow me to travel during Peak hours and would I be able to get a seat or do I have to stand?

2) Also, what is the difference between advance ticket and off peak ticket besides the price? Are there more restriction on the advance compared to the off peak? If yes, what are the restrictions besides price?

3) It would also be perfect if anyone could advise me on the exact peak and off peak timings for Virgin Trains.

4) Last but not least, this is unrelated to train tickets however, If I travelling to Man just for the stadium/museum tour, how many hours should I stay in Man?

>>> By contrast two single anytime tickets 10.30/19.30 is £154 <<<

But if you were leaving at 10.30 (in fact any time after 09.30) and returning the same day you would be buying the Off-peak Return which is £78.30. This is a walk-up fare, and would give the flexibility to come back on an earlier or later train.
