Manchester International Festival lineup?

Does anyone here know anything more about what's happening with the Manchester International Festival? The website says there is going to be a load of events on but they only have three shows displayed. Is that it or will there be more, and if so when will they be announced? Thanks.

It's a really new thing and hasn't really taken off yet. It's certainly nothing like as impressive as Edinburgh.

It was launched last year with the Gorillaz playing at the Opera House. Other than that, I don't think there was much on. Not heard of anything at all yet this year.

OK well I checked Wikipedia (…wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchester_International…) and it says the full programme will be released in March, so I guess I will have to wait a little longer. Thanx for your reply.

Opera House, Manchester

Il Tempo del Postino - Group Show: The main visual arts commission of the Festival will feature some of the world's leading international artists who will create a major new time-based group show at The Opera House, Manchester with the stage assuming the role of the gallery space. The group show is co-curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Philippe Parreno and directed by Philippe Parreno.

The Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester

Best known as an Oscar-winning film by Roman Polanski and based upon the memoirs of Wladyslaw Szpilman, The Pianist tells the harrowing story of one man's time in the Warsaw ghetto during the Nazi occupation. This new performance will take place in the 1830 Warehouse in The Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester, intercutting sections of Szpilman's original text with music by Chopin played by internationally acclaimed concert pianist Mikhail Rudy and a leading actor will be cast to narrate Szpilman's story in his own words. The Pianist is directed by leading British theatre director, Neil Bartlett.
