Ideas for afternoon trip from Shannon

I'm picking up a friend at Shannon airport on Sat afternoon, around 2pm. We have tickets for the international rules at the Gaelic grounds which kicks off at 7pm, so probably want to be in Limerick by 6ish.

Anybody got any ideas on a drive/sights we could do inbetween? She will be doing a tour for a week after the match that takes in the Cliffs and Burren & Blarney castle so that rules them out. Was thinking of the Rock of Cashel but I think we'll be pushing it to make it back to Limerick, especially as that would mean coming in from the 'wrong' side of Limerick for the match.

Maybe something like Quinn Abbey and then a wander around Ennis? Any other ideas would be great

thanks,

Scubamel

A car and driver would cost a small fortune for a day trip to Dublin. My choice would be to take the bus to Limerick and the train to Dublin. It might also be a thought to post this as a question on a new thread.
