Goresbridge Horse Sales

We're off to the Horse sales next week and will be staying in B&B from 18th - 20th March.

Can anyone suggest a nice Irish pub that does good food for us to go to on the evening of the 19th in the area?

Thanks in advance ;)

Don't mention Horse sales on here you'l have the townies throffing at the bit so you will.

Seriously its a few years since I went to Goresbridge and cant tell you much about it, small place maybe 4 or 5 bars (dont remember the ones we went in?) and a nice café that I cant remember the name of? Best bet is to ask your hosts but maybe the best bet would be the 15ish mile drive into Kilkenny to start the night and end up within walking distance to end off.

If you pass anywhere near Withington Manor on your way you could drag my niece over with you, been a long time since she would fit in Hand luggage though ;)

Ooops, just seeing this is for the sports horse sales this week. The Stephouse in Borris, just a few miles away is handy, especially if you have a box.

It was impossible last year to get served an afternoon cup of tea in the Goresbridge pubs, let along food! Borris is definitely more gentile with more choice.

If you do choose Borris, when you're done with the Stephouse, take a stroll down the street to O'Shea's pub after, it is the old fashioned pub at one side, grocery the other type of place-the real deal!

Sorry for late reply - only just seen this ;) Yes my user name is from my daughter's ISH - now just sold on ;)

Stayed at the Alamo B&B in Goresbridge - purchased 1 pony and 2 new horses, all been transported in a huge 18 horse lorry - safely back home now ;)

Great experience - Aim to go back for the September 10 day sale (not all 10 days though!!!!!)

Thanks for the info ;)
