Too aggressive itinerary??

We will be driving from Cork, leaving around 9 am and plan to drive Dingle Peninsula loop that day, spend the night in Killarney, drive the Rink of Kerry Loop the next day, spend a second night in Killarney, before moving on to the north. Is this too aggressive an itinerary for two days?

Why not stay in Dingle on the first night?

Why not reverse it to limit back tracking?

Hello. Consider driving the ROK the first day, staying the night in either Kilorglin, a nice town closer to Dingle and much less touristed than Killarney, or Killarney. Then you could drive to Dingle the next day and spend the night in Dingle.Hope this helps, and enjoy.

Thanks for the replies. I should have mentioned that we are flying into Shannon before driving to Cork and had not considered Dingle>ROK> then Cork or possibly bypassing Cork, driving north after ROK

Hi Asheville, you mentioned in another post that you were staying 4 nights in Adare, is this still true? Perhaps if you let us know of you full itinerary we would be better able to piece it all together. From what you have said of beginning in Shannon and you wishing to see Dingle, ROK, Killarney and Cork with 3 nights to do it I would suggest:

Shannon to Dingle, night in Dingle.

From Dingle, begin the ROK at Killorglin and travel counter-clockwise ending in Killarney, night in Killarney.

From Killarney head to Cork for the night.

Not sure if this will work with your overall plans but it will get you to the spots you wish without double backing on any portion.

tonyirish - The current itinerary is fly into Shannon and drive to Cork for one night. Drive to Killarney for two nights. My thought process was that driving from Cork we would have time to do the Dingle Loop, check into hotel in Killarney, dinner, pub. etc. Next morning, drive ROK loop, counterclockwise, spending the better part of the day on the ROK, ending late afternoon, again dinner, pub, etc. in Killarney. Next day drive to Adare just to relax for two nights, play golf one day, no other real plans. After that we will drive from Adare through Burren and Cliffs to Cong, Ashford Castle for two nights then on to Dublin for last two nights before flying home. Again, my thought process was to become accustomed to driving on the left, on the way to Cork, before attempting either the Dingle or ROK loop roads.

Shannon to Cork direct is fine, good roads and on the edge of 1st day drive limits.

I would, just to be predictable use Killarney as a base for the lower peninsula's then tour Dingle on the way to Adare.

Yes, Killarney to Adare via Dingle is a better idea than Cork to Killarney via Dingle and so it looks like you have it all sorted. Enjoy your time.
