tour company or person

Hi, We are 4 adults visiting for the first time. We want to fly into Shannon airport. Do you recommend renting a car or a private tour operator? We've never driven on the other side of the road and wonder if we'd freak out... We want to stay on the western coast and will be there 10 days. Thanks for any info. We are planning to go June 2014.

The first time driving on the left side takes a bit more concentration and a bit slower driving and a hightened concentration. Right turns require yield...lots of roundabouts. Many people come back saying that it was NOT as big a deal as the anticipated. I'd say if you are a confident and experienced driver on the right side you should be OK on the left. Driving gives you more flexibility in terms of what you can see. The buses do not go everywhere, but they do get to most of the top tourist attractions.

For the west coast, rent a car.
