B&B in Galway

Has anyone stayed at the following B&B's;

Ivernnia B&B, Marion Lodge, or Clochard B&B? What was your experience and what is the walking time to the town center? We will be travelling with our 14 year old son at the end of July. Thanks for any info.

I've stayed at Marian Lodge (note minor spelling variation), and assuming it's the same place you're asking about, it was great.

The downside was that it was not real close to Galway City town center, it's out on the end of the Salthill area, a nice enough area in it's own right, but some walking distance to the nightlife there in Salthill, and not walking distance at all to city center Galway in my opinion unless you really enjoy a walk - it's probably 2 or 3 miles from town.

Stayed at the Clochard in June, 2006 and would not stay again. It was at least a 20 minute walk into Galway. The host was friendly but not the hostess who greeted us with rule after rule for the place. The same rules are posted all over the room. Too many other places to stay in Galway to recommend this one.

There are a number of good places just west of the city centre; Prague House and Kilcullen house are two that family and friends of ours used in past couple of months. Both are just minutes walk to the edge of the city, on Father Griffin Road, and just steps away from a wonderful little cafe called Anton's.

There are a whole bunch of B+B's on the street by the dog track. We stayed at the Adwan House (sp) it was within walking distance of town and very nice. Lovely dining room and wonderful breakfast.
