Romantic Things to do in Galway

I am in town for two and a half days this weekend in Galway to visit my girlfriend and coming from the States. Anyone recommend something romantic to do?

Thanks

Bike hire from Galway City. Walk the Salthill prom. Take a ferry to the Aran Islands. Take a guided walking tour of the city. Visit Bridgit's Garden - http://www.brigitsgarden.ie/. Have dinner in Ard Bia - http://ardbia.com/. Cocktails in this bar - http://www.salthillhotel.com/.

Walk the Prom at sunset. Walk along the canals. Dinner in any of Ard Bia, Kai, Rouge or maybe Cookes, advance booking required in most. Quiet drink by the fireplace in Freeneys, Salt House, Bunch of Grapes ets.

Dinner in the Pullman restaurant in Gleno Abbey. It closed for a short while at the end of last year. If it has reopened, its definetly worth going to:

As other posters have suggested, and the song says, you should take a whirl 'round the Salthill Prom with your Galway Girl.

If you can handle oysters, a trip out to Morans on the Weir in Kilcolgan; what happens next can only be speculated upon.........

Don't think Bike Hire, Walks on the Prom or trips to the Aran Islands will be in order this weekend, considering the weather is to be brutal.

For me, romance in Galway in brutal weather would be my 4 C's:

CUDDLES ;-)

COSY PUBS - any amount to choose from

CAKE - particularly a slice of Triple Chocolate Mousse Gateau & Coffee in Goyas (so romantic, we had it as our Wedding cake!!) http://www.goyas.ie/index.html

COOKES Restaurant - I agree with rojo and it's a very special place both for ambience and food http://www.cookesrestaurantandwinebar.ie/

Back in a previous life, I would probably include Central Park Niteclub which is now gone, and probably CHIPS afterwards!!

Hope you both have a lovely romantic weekend.

Cuddles to you LittlePumpkin!!! :)

You could see about buying matching Cladagh rings in Cladagh! Might be a bit clichéd though!

Right back at ya Lolly!

Nuthin' like a cuddles on a dreary days and I've had my fair share this week. Post- Op recouperation and milkin' it for all it's worth ;-)

Yep, Claddagh Rings and their significance is definately something romantic too and with a huge association with Galway. Thomas Dillon's Jewellers are reputed to be the original craftsmen. Have a pop in to their little museum too

http://www.claddaghring.ie/

And a short hop to Goyas for some cake before or afterwards (around the corner)

Oh gosh, how I now long for a slice.

Wonder if there is any chance...........?

na, probably not - my little calling bell has mysteriously disappeared......;-)

As is the Claddagh Motto - "Let Love and Friendship Reign"
