Oyster Fishing in Galway?

Hi there,

This might be random, but I was wondering if there's a company we can contact or place we can go to oyster fish? I saw something about it on the travel channel, and wasn't sure if that's a service that's offered there or if that was something special they did for television. If there's a spot that does offer it, my husband and I would love that! :)

Thanks!

Oysters are grown on the sea bed and harvested by dredging. I have never heard of any of the companies offering tourist visits

Doesn't dangerous hard work look like fun on the telly..

You can go fishing for fish out from Galway but not sure there are many commercial operators would allow you on their boats even docked let alone when working.

Unfortunately Uasal..That is a very old submission and in contrast to the fishermen's own conservation protests and restrictions imposed on the number of licences issued for working the Clarinbridge beds, along with other tidal reaches since the beginning of this year.

There are no restrictions if you talk to the right people, try talking to some of the boatmen at the quay......this usually does the trick. I have never been refused yet.

As an alternative, if you visit the Letterfrack area of Connemara:
