I'll be in Galway for 2 nights at the end of February with my daughter. From there we have booked a hotel in Ennis as we fly out of Shannon the following morning.
I am thinking about renting a car in Galway to drive to Ennis and then drop it at the Shannon airport. It works out to about the same price as taking the train to Ennis and then a taxi to the airport the next morning, and I'd love to see a bit of the countryside. Before I do this though I have a couple of questions I hope someone can help with.
First, is it easy to return the car to Shannon airport? It seems like a smaller airport so I'm hoping it would be easy and not time consuming.
Second, if we have the whole day would it be nicer to drive a bit to the north of Galway through the connemara or drive south to the cliffs of Moher, and Doolin? I would love any suggestions on a route that would get us to Ennis before dark and let us see some of the charm of the Irish countryside. Thanks :-)
