Quick trip to Galway

I have a quick one day/overnight in Galway this weekend. What would you suggest as the best "tourist" thing to do? Best pub for lunch/dinner? May not get over there or to Ireland again.

Thanks!!!

will you be in Galway City.

I would suggest a walk around the town during the day, there are plent of nice walkways and lots to see.

For the evening - for a bit of atmosphere you could go down Quay Street (best street in town) and go for a drink - also the pubs do very good food - Kings Head Pub and Spanish Arch Pub. Beware of the restaurants on this street - some are good but some are not - they are quite expensive and will throw up anything to you - there are some nice pizza restaurants around this street also.

Then go down by Jurys, walk over the bridge, take a sharp right after the bridge which will lead you to Dominic Street - some nice pubs here also, and if you want a really good music night out head to the Crane on Sea Road - two minutes walk from Monroes on Dominic Street - ask anyone - they will help you find it.

if it is on a Saturday that you are in Galway you will get to go to the Saturday Market - this is great fun and very atmospheric - it is in the centre of the town - right across from the Kings Head. Its a lovely way to spend an hour or two.

I agree with the above poster if you are there on a Saturday you have to check out the market, it's just off Shop Street.

There is a stall that sells the best vegetable curry I have ever eaten and it's especially nice when it's freezing outside and you are walking around with a nice bowl of this.

This is one of my favourite things to do when I go to Galway.

It has to be tasted to be believed, you can also buy it cold to bring home and heat up later, unfortunately anytime I went back for it at the end of the day to bring home, they had sold out.
