Two sons visiting Galway

Our two sons, ages 20 and 16 decided to spend 6 days in Galway, arriving December 31 and leaving around the 6th. They are looking at airbnb's for lodging. They are on a tight budget. My research leads me to believe they will be bored after 3 days. Any suggestions for sightseeing nearby, they won't have a car, would a day trip to Dublin be suggested? They are flying in to Dublin and taking the train to Galway. Any suggestions, comments, warnings, anything would be appreciated. Many thanks!

Sorry for the double post!

Why not fly into Dublin, have a day there, then Galway and back for an extra day in Dublin? How bored they would be depends on what their interests are. Point them in the direction of TA and let them argue it out themselves!

There may be a challenge in the evenings when one can go to pubs and the other cannot. Good luck finding an affordable place on New Years Eve. AirBnBs do not usually do individual nights, affordably.

Try www.couchsurfing.com and www.hostelworld.com.

Good Luck,

If they're flying into Dublin they would be better off taking a coach directly from the airport to Galway.

Have they thought this through- the issue of 1 being able to go to the pubs and the other not might be a problem.
