Buying hiking boots, poles, and waterproof pants seem to be recommended just about everywhere I've looked. Are there any nice walks for people who are more casual walk-in-the-woods-on-an-actual-trail type hikers? I'm looking for easy or moderate levels.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
