Arriving DUB - time through customs?

Hello,

We will be arriving at Dublin Airport at 5:20 AM on a Sunday. Does anyone know roughly how long it will take to get through customs?

I'm trying to judge the time to see if we take the shuttle from CIE at 7am or just grab a cab to get into the city earlier. We have a pre-paid night prior and can check in upon arrival (to sleep!).

Thanks in advance.

Is the CIE shuttle something you will have to prebook as part of a tour? The reason I ask is that I have never heard of a CIE shuttle from the airport. There are several buses which link the airport with the city centre, Dublin Bus 747-Airlink, Aircoach and Dublin Bus # 16a or 41. All leave at regular intervals so your sure to catch one.

To answer your original question, yes I think you will have deplaned, cleared immigration and customs by 7am if you land at 5.40am, provided there are no unforeseen delays! Terminal 2 is very speedie to get through!

Not sure about the CIE portion, but we arrived on a Friday morning and we were through customs about 20 mins after we deplaned. Fastest place I've ever been through customs!

You may be through Arrivals long before 7 AM.

But the shuttle may be cheaper than a taxi. As you exit Arrivals in Terminal 2, there's a nice cafe - maybe relax with coffee before catching the bus.

There used to be long lines. But since T2, I think forty minutes from touch-down to exit is normal.

Perhaps with no luggage to retrieve one could get off the plane and than straight through customs in 20 minutes but if you have to wait to pick up checked luggage it could take significantly longer. It really depends where you are sitting on the plane and so that portion will take longer for some and also, where on the plane your checked luggage gets put - yours could very well be the last bag to make its way onto the carrousel. Irish airports are relatively small, so no long distances to walk, and relatively efficient with immigration and customs - people rarely get delayed by either for too long and so the delays you will most likely experience, besides the plane itself being late, are the two I mentioned above.

Thanks to everyone for their help.

I should rephrase and say I'm doing an escorted tour with CIE Tours which offers a free shuttle on the arrival day starting at 7:00 am from DUB to the hotel.

I'm sitting in row 14 on the Aer Lingus flight out of 42 rows. So I should be one of the earlier arrivals to the luggage claim area after 1st and business class.

Again thanks for the info! Looks like I won't be hanging around too long before clearing customs.

Glad to hear the airport isn't huge!
