Good Brunch place for next Sunday

Hi Dublin DE's and other experts !!

I'm looking for a good brunch stop next Sunday in Dublin (city centre preferably)

So far I have found

Gruel - Dame Street

Coppinger Row, Coppinger Row

IFI - Eustace street - temple bar

The Mermaid - Dame Street

Also found Canal Bank Cafe but this is in Ranelagh and not sure where that is with google mapping it. Won't bother unless you tell me it's worth the trip.

Price is not really an issue. Which of the above can you recommend - or maybe you have others?

Hey Bryno,

I've eaten at all but Coppinger Row of the 4 you mention and enjoyed them all for what they are. As far as atmosphere, The Mermaid Café would be the nicest, Gruel the funkiest and IFI the best for people watching (although the windows at The Mermaid Café are pretty good for people watching, too).

Personally, I've only had a brunch at the IFI (AND I just had their Sunday's Grill which is a variation on the Full Irish...which I love). So while I can't help with the brunch part, if I were choosing for myself, I'd go for The Mermaid Café. (And if the pecan pie is available, yes!!! I didn't believe that anyone could ever top my Great Aunt Claudia Mae's pecan pie, but they did!)

You might want to check out Queen of Tarts for their brunch (either location - Dame Street or Cow's Lane). One of my favorite places to eat in Dublin.

Keith

A few of my favourites are Odessa - http://www.odessa.ie/

Canal Bank Cafe, it's definately worth the trip Bryno, and it's not as far out as Ranelagh, its just at Leeson st.

Also the Exchequer does a great brunch too. http://www.theexchequer.ie/sunday_lunch.php

I had a stroll through Dublin last Saturday and I have to say the place was buzzing. I passed by the Coppinger Row restaurant and it was packed including the seats outside. It was a beautiful warm day. Along South William street there are a few breakfast cafe's such as

dublintourist.com/details/metro_cafe.shtml and another one directly opposite that also do a breakfast.

I must say however that I love http://www.wagamama.ie/ located beneath the St.Stephens Green Shopping Centre. Opens around 12 p.m. on a Sunday.

Hi Bryno

I'd second the rec from Dublinminx for Odessa and also suggest my own favourite place for weekend brunch - Eden in Meeting House Square just behind the IFI.

and the brunch menu -

Enjoy!

Thanks all, loads of info there, I'll choose one and let you know which i did.

By the way a few of you have mentioned Odessa but it doesn't get great reviews. My overall impression from reading the reviews is that it is not very clean and that the staff are dreadful. (don't give out to me, i'm only going on the reviews)

Thanks again all. Loads of choice there.

Ah Bryno, I would have asked you to Chez Clauds (just a hop and a skip from Dublin) but unfortunately I'll be abroad for a few days....

I hope you'll have a great brunch, wherever you decide to go!

I forgot to mention here http://www.odeon.ie/matinee.html

It's located in an old train station at the top of Harcourt Street about 7 to 8 minutes from St. Stephens Green.
