Are the slieve league cliffs safe with kids?

Hi all

We are currently in Derry and heading into Donegal tomorrow. The cliffs at sliabh liag have been recommended to us but my parents are very concerned that they're not safe to visit with small kids (one baby, 10 months, who will be in a backpack, and an almost 3 year old). Are they being over cautious grandparents or is it really so treacherous? Obviously we'd be holding the toddler's hand the whole time.

Also does anyone know if the boat trips still run in November?

Thanks

I wouldn't describe them as treacherous :

You can park the car and walk a short distance up the path, which has a fence and I seem to remember a bench/viewing spot. It's only if you want to walk farther that you'd need to keep hold of the toddler, as the path is fairly steep and uneven - and no fence. Hope you can see this in the photos.

Do check the weather forecast, however : it's not a place I'd want to be in high winds!

check the weather forecast - I wouldn't want to be up there in high winds with a little one.

I can second the advice on the wind. It wasn't even a very windy day when I was there, but I had to leave after a while because my eardrums were getting too painful from the constant wind coming over the clifftops. A hat or something else that covers your ears is recommended!

Oops : sorry for the typos!

Forgot to mention that the boat trips operate from April to October. According to the website, they operate earlier and later in the season if the weather is nice. You can contact them here:
