Zaks IS closed down

A lady - Vera D was enquiring over the past few days if Zaks Restaurant was closed down. I just heard it has closed down. Apparently quite a few people have purchased Groupon 'meal deals' for here - and were nervous about losing their money. I believe if you contact Groupon they will refund anybody affected.

Great thanks for that.

I booked the groupon deal and emailed them to get my money back.

Would you possibly have any suggestions of a place that would do an early bird on a Saturday night in Cork. I'm heading there next week and really don't know where to go.

Thanks

Oh that is awful to have your plans scuppered like that. Im off to Dublin in 4 weeks time and I have my weekend arranged around Groupon deal restaurants/activities. For what its worth I personally feel Zak's was a bit 'hit and miss'. This closure was on the cards for quite a while too.

My favourite city centre restaurants would be Market Lane in Oliver Plunkett Street (2 min walk from Patrick St). They do a great early bird. The food here has a Cork 'slant' and is really good quality.

People on T/A seem to love Strasbourg Goose (I have never been) - I think its €20 for a 3 course meal at any time of the day. You might ask some of the members who ate here - about it. Places like Harveys, Cafe Bar Deli and Amicus are all quite nice. I also like Luigi Malones (although my last visit wasnt great). Rossini's in Prices Street or Italee are good for Italian. Yuan Ming Yuan is a nice new Chinese (very authentic). There is a lovely Thai restaurant - Banna Thai in Maylor Street - which does lovely food - it is however in a strange location I feel. Take a look at the reviews on any of the above that take your fancy and either myself or some of the Cork destination experts might help you make a decision.

PM me if you need any further advice.

Scoozis is absolutely lovely. We've never had a bad meal there.
