Europcar fitting tracking devices in their cars??

Hi there!! Just rented a car for few days un Dublín and we were thinking on travelling yo north....but these guys ask for the 34€ fee, and say car has tracking system fitted! Is this true?? I could see a sticker on the boot that might be it. 500€ fine if removed! Any experience crossing the border and being caught by these guys? Thanks

Even if you don't get caught electronically, an accident, breakdown or parking ticket is easily discoverable and will likely void all insurance coverage - regardless of coverage from Europcar, your credit card, or some other third party. Wreck it in NI and you will be liable for the full cost. Violate your contract at your own risk.

What you are asking is 'should I risk driving in Northern Ireland with no insurance?.

The answer is obviously. NO

Very unfair of them to add a fee for driving in Northern Ireland, but that's what they do. Pay it, if you want to be insured in Northern Ireland.

Its a bit unfair charging extra for going into the North, BUT there is nothing you can do.

The only options are, pay the money or dont go.

Most car hire companies have trackers on the cars. They will definitely know if you are there and will charge you.
