Walks and Walking Tours (Ayr and Ayrshire)

The Catsmom messaged me about walking tours in Ayr, so I just as well share the info with everyone!

http://ayrshirepaths.org.uk/

This ayrshire paths website is a fantastic resource for walks both long and short, and all scenic. One of my favourite easy walks it the one in Straiton which takes you partly into the Blairquhan Castle estate where much of the movie "The Queen" was filmed last year. If you want to visit the actual castle though, you'll have to wait until the summer when it is open to the public some weekends, unless you wish to stay there of course!

Donald Kay's walkabout Ayr town are incredibly popular during the season and can be booked directly through his website or by popping in to the Tourist Office in the Sandgate (look for the mediaeval butter coloured building half way up the street on the right). You can also find a bit more about the tour on the Tripadvisor Inside Pages:

tripadvisor.com/Travel-g186574-c20002/Ayr:Un…

and also on a jolly forum chat with TA members and Donald Where's your Troosers himself!:

I have written details of a number of other walks on the Inside Pages section, which includes details of other attractions in the area. Just follow the links for each heading:

Hope it gives someone a little inspiration:-)

1. Re: Walks and Walking Tours (Ayr and Ayrshire)

How could I forget one of my favourite websites for walks in the area (which includes the lovely Straiton Walks):

Some shorter walks are included for the slightly less adventurous, and some vere dangerously close to decent country pubs!
