I will have 2 1/2 days in early June to walk. I've been poring over the walkhighlands.co.uk site but I'm still vacillating. Depending on terrain, I'm good for 8-14 miles (10-12 probably optimum on decent ground).
I arrive by overnight train so I thought the Cow Hill walk would do nicely for the afternoon. Then I definitely want to walk to Steall Falls. I have heard that there is a summer bus to the Lower Falls but haven't been able to find a schedule to confirm. If there is, I could walk from the Glen Nevis Visitor Center to the Lower Falls (Polldubh) and on to the end of the road and Steall Falls, catching a bus to cut the return short. Does this work? Flaws? Suggestions?
Then I thought of taking a morning bus to Kinlochleven and walking the last segment of the WHW. I know this would bring me back through Glen Nevis but I thought the open country to begin would be a contrast. I also looked at the Blackwater Reservoir walk, which would mean I'd also have to catch a bus back to Fort William.
Am I on the right "track" with this thinking? Are there other fine walks I might want to substitute?
And finally, I assume I can buy midge repllent in town. . . . :-)
Thanks in advance for any help. .
