Er, see your post "Driving advice from Edinburgh to Fort William".

Replace "Edinburgh" with "Glasgow" in the advice.

Michelin maps are famous.

Does it matter if its the best?

Stop at laybys at the side of the road. These are at the best places for scenery.

Would You recommend Visiting Stirling Castle Before we head to Fort William? Or should we visit the castle on our last day driving from Pitlochry - Edinburgh? we are going to drop the car at the edinburgh Airport in the afternoon at 5pm...

Can't say - never been. My inclination would be to save it till last and little driving to do.

I drove from Glasgow to Ft. William last May. Here is the route that I took and recommend:

- Glasgow to Loch Lomond via A82

- A811, A81, A821 to the A84 near Callander.

- A84 to Lochearnhead

- A85 to Crianlarich (overnight)

- A82 from Crianlarch to Ft. William via Glencoe.

Lots of good scenery on this route and nice hikes if you are interested (look at www.walkhighlands.co.uk)

In your opinion, which are the best castles to see in Scotland that we could probably see?

Why not buy yourself the book "Scotland the Best", by Pete Irvine?

Best Castle....best restaurant, best view, best loch, best walk, best ice cream, best waterfall.......

Hi, there are too many castles to say which you should visit except that the most obvious ones in the area you are traveling through are Edinburgh, Stirling and Eilean Donan on the Mainland near to Skye.

The Route that mbgg from Tel Aviv gave is a slow meandering scenic route through the Trossachs and is recomennded if you have the time.

However if it is route direct from Glasgow then it is the A82 all the way skirting the western side of the Trossachs and Loch Lomond.

If you are coming from Edinburgh and decide to take in Stirling on the way up then take the M9 to Stirling, then you have a choice of the A811 to Balloch (Loch Lomond) and join the A82 or take the A84 through Callander and then the A85 to Crianlarich once again joining the A82 there.

Whatever route you take you will pass through the magnificent Glen Coe so make sure you make time and stop off here.
