We will be travelling with a group of 4 to Scotland at the end of September. I currently have rooms in Edinburgh, Inverness, and Glasgow. A member of our group really wants to go to Loch Ness (hence the Inverness). We are mostly interested in scenery and quaint towns--- we are not museum people. We are trying to decide if we want to take the train from Edinburgh to Inverness and then back to Glasgow or if we want to rent a car. What do you think? If we drive is it possible to visit the Falkirk wheel and Doune Castle before heading toward Inverness? We are from Wyoming (so we are used to long drives--- round trip to watch college football for us is 5 hours drive time every Saturday-- haha!). I am comparing prices and it seems to be almost even currently.
