The fire brigade museum (Museum of Fire) I visited a few years ago was in Edinburgh.

I'm not sure if there is one in Glasgow, but there is a Glasgow Police Museum in Bell St.

If you are trying to get details of a relation that was a firefighter many brigades have an historian

Glasgow Fire Service was amalgamated into Strathclyde Fire and Rescue which has recently been merged with other Scottish Fire and Rescue Services to form the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

It might be worth contacting them

No museum but we do hold our Firemen in high regard given the amount of losses to fire in the 50s and 60s, Cheapside St in particular springs to mind and Glasgow once had the nickname of "Tinderbox City"

So much so that a statue of a Fireman stands outside the Grand Central Hotel at the corner of Hope/Gordon Sts

The Riverside Museum has a display of firefighting vehicles.

In response to the Greenock museum. Seemingly because of planning laws the building would require a change of premises application so only opens up a fixed amount of time during the year mainly to coincide with the visiting cruise ships. If you do visit it is a train ride to Greenock Central or the bus service to Greenock job centre and a short walk to the museum.

If you are here on any of the dates listed in red the SFRS Heritage Trust Museum at Greenock is open on these days http://sfrheritagetrust.org/events1.htm

If you are looking for information on somebody that worked for either Glasgow Fire Brigade or in the latter days Strathclyde Fire & Rescue you could try contacting the area HQ at Hamilton 01698 300 999
