Wemyss Bay/Largs

Hi,

we are spending our annual two week holiday in Glasgow this summer as well...

This year we have booked a night in Rothesay. Taking the train from Glasgow to Wemyss Bay. But when going back we have decided to take the train from Largs.

1. Is there a bus connection between Wemyss Bay and Largs? If so, is this operating often? Or is there a better way to get from Wemyss to Largs?

2. Should we spend a few hours in Largs? What is there to see? Any good advices?

Hi Martin, yes there is a bus service between the two, not sure of the frequency but pretty sure it is at least hourly.

www.travelinescotland.com for info

Largs is a fairly typical Victorian seaside town with a pier and a certain world famous ice cream parlour in Nardini's

There are plenty of buses.

Both Stagecoach and Mcgills have services.

A trip to Nardini's in Largs is a must! This cafe/restaurant is a much loved establishment dating from the 1930s and recently restored. The ice creams are fantastic!

You can also take the ferry to Millport, on Cumbrae - makes a good trip on a nice day.

Thanks for all your advices. Will definitly have an ice cream at Nardini's.

If the bus service isn't operating too often, what would be the estimated price of a taxi between Wemyss Bay and Largs?

For most of the day there is a good bus service-at least 4 per hour.

Yep use the bus and have lots of ice cream with the money saved by not taking a taxi!
