Glasgow to London (Victoria Station)

We are looking for information about how to get from Glasgow (city centre) to London Victoria Station. We can't find any information as rates are posted yet for June 2013. There are four of us travelling on Saturday June 22, 2013. I think there are two trains the East Coast and Virgin... wondering if this is correct.

www.virgintrains.co.uk is the website where you may book tickets for the journey from Glasgow Central to London Euston; www.eastcoast.co.uk operate trains from Edinburgh Waverley to London King's Cross.

Euston to Victoria is an easy journey on the Underground: Victoria line train from Euston station, although there are stairs to climb at Victoria from the train platform to street level. Have you booked a hotel near Victoria? If so there may be an easier way to make the journey from Euston than on the Underground.

A guess:

If you're going to Victoria in order to get another train south, e.g. to Gatwick, you can take a train to Kings Cross and right next door is St Pancras station - it's the relatively new International Station, and there are some trains St Pancras - Gatwick or elsewhere, such as the Eurostar trains to France. (they look like 2 separate stations but they are joined together underground.)

You may not have to cross London to get the next train. Depends where you're actually heading for.

Judging by thier other post Derek they are just going to London!

So i reckon they should be basing their decision on what is best for them leaving Glasgow!

The East Coast trains from Central to Kings Cross are few and far between and take approx an hour longer ( due to the detour through Edinburgh Waverley first ) whereas Virgin Trains Central to Euston are more frequent and route direct.

The options for onward travel once in central London are limitless.

Timetables posted at the moment for Virgin and for the few months ahead are unlikely to differ from any trains that run in June so you can pretty much base your choices on that. Certainly Glasgow Central to Euston would be your best bet.

With four of you plus bags I would take a cab to your hotel from Euston.

You might shave a bit off the price by taking the longer route on the east coast line but its not worth it. the virgin train is fast and efficient. cheaper advance/non refundable rates are released approx 12 weeks in advance and are snapped up quickly. best buy direct from virgin themselves.
