Hi all,

Just wanted to ask on advice for visiting a few bars for drinks get to see the city at the same time midweek.

What are some of your favourite bars, hidden gems, locals to visit, East End, West End, Southside?

Not into "trendy" cocktail bars, more beer/cider drinkers.

As a Glasgow person you will have your own, why not list them to get started?

Thanks, I've only recently moved to Glasgow so don't know that many places.

Was just asking as a friend is visiting.

For entertaining visitors we head for the Horseshoe bar and Sloans with the champagne bar in the Grand central hotel as a contrast! Sorry, they are all central location.

Have a night out along Byres Road and Ashton Lane in the West End, taking in a few premises.

It might be worth your while getting the excellent guidebook 'Scotland the Best' by Peter irvine. It's good for a heads up on the city's eating and drinking places.

South side: Bungo Bar, Lebowskis, Rum shack

East End: Drygate Brewery, West Brewery

West End: Innis & Gunn Beer Kitchen, The Belle, 3 Judges, Brel, Lansdowne Bar

So many options. Which gems have you come across in your short time in Glasgow?

I can only comment on the South Side as that is where I have always lived!

Shawlands:

Bars - Lebowski's. The Butterfly and the Pig, Rum Shack, the Granary, Linen, The Church on the Hill.

Restaurants - Buongiorno (in my opinion the best Italian in Glasgow), Black Dove, MacMillan Chop House, Bell and Felix (mostly a coffee place but good for lunch), Soy Division.

Clarkston / Giffnock:

Bars - The Orchard Park, The Overlee

Restaurants - Iain Brown Food and Drink (one of the most underrated restaurants in Glasgow), Michaelangelo's, BRGR Giffnock (licensed), BRGR Clarkston (not licenced) (Burgers / Chips only but excellent), Catch (fancy fish and chips), Pane e Vinom (good for food or just a glass of wine and some Italian meats and cheeses).

Other notable mentions - Café Asia in Crookston (fantastic Indian)

I'm surprised to see no mention of the excellent Bon Accord from the locals. Wide selection of beers & whiskies plus great traditional pub food. I highly recommend the toad in the hole!

No surprise at all!

Possibly because the OP had asked about the Westend, Eastend and Southside, the Bon Accord is the City Centre.
