hi

dont know what sort of budget you on........... but if money not an issue what about marr hall. havent stayed there but did a nosey round when we looked at wedding venues (good excuse to get a look) its definitely got the wow thing and would be a once n a lifetime place for most people ( well except robbie williams....... thats where he stayed last time he was in glasgow!) and is in travelling distance from you.

What about one devonshire Gardens in the West End of Glasgow (Gordon Ramsay used to have restaurant there) or further afield, about an hours drive, Cameron House in Loch Lomond, very lush

When are you looking for?

One Devonshire is not actually there anymore - it has turned into a Hotel Du Vin and is currently (and has been for some time) encased entirely in scaffolding. Not sure what kind of renovations are going on inside.

Malmaison is always a winner - the suites there are sumptious, if you are looking for city centre.

I have stayed in the largest malmaison suite, its not very big at all but its lovely, has a bath for 2 in the living room, loads of candles, seperate shower room for 2 and we got free champagne and chocolates. Send me a message if you would like to see the photos. Cameron house in loch lomond has went a bit down hill. There are some nice suites in Langs hotel, but nothing really "wow" about it. Devonshire gardens is rather nice, though last time i was there it was beginning to slide slightly. Loge on the loch is romantic, but again, not "wow". Ive not stayed at the Raddison, but heard they have a couple of nice suites too.

I'm going to suggest somewhere very off the wall, but it might just be unusual enough to have the wow factor.

There is an old house on the left of the A82 just beyond Inverbeg at Loch Lomond, it is called Stuckgowan House - spelling may be off a wee bit.

It is small and the owner is in the process of slowly turning it into a great wee hotel. It doesn't have a lot of facilities, but there is a wonderful charm about it. Open fires in the bedroom, and even in the bathroom - old iron bath with an open fire. Small bar and restaurant overlloking the loch, and the owner will happily take guests for a (safe) swin the loch at night or morning if you feel like it.

It's not a big 5 star hotel, but I think that it is a special wee place for a special day, worth a day trip to check it out.

Good luck for the big day
