Wind

The sort that comes with rain. I know what the British weather is but was wondering if, as a city near the sea you get strong winds in the mid winter months.

As I live between coast and moors it is a constant factor but Edinburgh is a different type of location so I thought it might be moderated. Or does a combination of wind and rain come as standard with the coast being so near.

I would be grateful for your oppinion.

1. Re: Wind

we get horizontal rain due to the wind and when it blows from the north in the winter time it cuts right through you.

Brass monkeys looking for welders comes to mind.

Hardly a breeze in Edinburgh today. Pouring down with rain though.

As we all know strong winds come from the South-West and Edinburgh is sheltered behind the Pentland Hills, and therefore has a balmy climate at all times of the year.

We always find it colder in the Winter than where we live in Aberdeenshire. Last Winter the cold in Edinburgh was intense. No wind very still and frosty.

Ok. So much like here then. Well you can only hope.

I saw a bargain price on a hotel by the shore for near Christmas. Better go buy a balaclava. Thanks all.

Positive thinking Leuca. I like it. Had a kite once for my birthday but no one would come and fly it with me so no fun.

Why do the hotels around Western Harbour have railings? so you can attach your safety wire when you walk out the door :-)
