Guy Fawkes Night and St Andrews Day

Hi, we will be in Edinburgh for just over 3 months from September to December for family reasons. We are looking forward to living like locals during this time. Is there anything special done throughout the City/Suburbs for Guy Fawkes Night or St Andrews Day? Thanks

For Guy Fawkes there is usually a firework display at Meadowbank stadium. Tickets are required - no information as to whether or not it will run this year- usually depends on the Council budget situation but keep an eye on the Edinburgh Leisure website for the stadium. http://www.edinburghleisure.co.uk/

On 31st October there is usually a Beltane fire festival at Calton hill beltanefiresociety.wordpress.com

St Andrews day - usually Ceilidh events in the evening, sometimes events in St Andrew Square but again will depend on budget constraints. edinburgh.org/see-do/events/st-andrews-day

Thanks for your reply. Here in Aus, many years ago we could buy crackers over the counter, and have our own bonfires. Now (being a Nanny state) we aren't allowed to do such dangerous activities. I wonder if you can do such things there?
