Balmoral vs George

We are getting the Balmoral for only 2 nights for GBP 285 per room per night.

Or the George hotel is available for 3 nights for GBP 185.

Friends have recommend that we should stay t the Balmoral even if we have to reduce the length of the stay.

Is it that amazing? So much more better?

We wanna just explore the city. Don't need to necessarily cover all tourist spots.

Please advise which option to chose..

Thanks.

Go the extra night unless there's something in the reviews that means you *must* stay at the Balmoral

But check out other hotels - plenty mentioned above

The Balmoral if a beautiful hotel with great rooms and service, but if it were me I would choose to the option to stay an extra day and stay in an hotel that cost a bit less.

What's more important to you - the money, the time available, or the experience?

Thank you for your replies.

Balmoral is not available for another night. The time available & the experience are both important.

The George should be fine - its very well located. The Caledonian is looking good after its refit if swank is your thing. ( or try it for a meal/ afternoon tea ) Just enjoy !

A friend stayed in the George recently and found it to be very noisy during the night with large groups coming and going late into the night so if experience is important I think the Balmoral would be better. The public areas in the George are nice but her room which I saw, in a 'modern' wing was nothing special. The Balmoral hotel has a Bollinger Bar which would swing it for me!!

I would recommend the Apex Waterloo place over the George...it just 50m from the Balmoral.

3 nights at the George (or the Apex), and if you want to experience the Balmoral the £200 you've saved will buy afternoon tea (£25) or dinner at Hadrian's (£23.50) with some spare left over.

Thank u all for the suggestions. I'm not getting the Apex Waterloo either.

It's either 3 nights at George

Or 2 nights at Balmoral

Don't really have to experience Balmoral. But want comfortable rooms at good location. Going With large family group.

Personally I'd do 2 nights at the Balmoral......perhaps preceded by 1 night at a travelodge if there were any cheap deals going to get the 3 nights in Edinburgh.
