Does the train run from the Edinburgh airport to the Waverly train station?
No, but the airport bus does - it stops outside the station on Waverley Bridge
BUT where are you trying to go to as going to Waverley for a train may not be the best option
I am going from the airport to the Bank hotel. What bus should I take and the cost ?
<<< The property is situated at just two minutes walk from Waverley Station. The airport can be reached using the Airlink bus which runs every 10 minutes. >>>
That was copied from the front page of Bank Hotels web site. Most hotels explain how to get to them. Google is your friend.
I doubt if Usain Bolt could go from Waverley to the hotel in two minutes - unless he was on the back of a motorcycle
Unfortunately the hotel website uses Googlemaps on which the position of the station is wrong. As is the position of the hotel itself which is on the Royal Mile itself and not as the map claims on the Cowgate (it's also not 2km from Princes St - more like 500m. Googlemaps also doesn't show you that Edinburgh is a 3D city so there isn't a road junction between Market Street and North Bridge
All the main entrances to the station are on Waverley Bridge (where the airport bus stops), so you'll need to go south, go up (and I mean up) Cockburn Street onto the Royal Mile, then walk slightly downhill to the first set of traffic lights. The Bank Hotel is on the opposite corner
The Google Streetview is more useful - http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=EH1+1LL
That info is very helpful, thank you ! It is great to hear from a local.
If you weren't in a hurry then you could get the number 35 bus from the airport which stops about a minutes walk from the bank hotel.
Cheaper as well.
Get the (blue painted) Airlink 100 bus from Edinburgh Airport to Waverley Bridge (the end of the route, next to Waverley railway station). When you get off the bus turn left, walk up Cockburn Street (pronounced Co-burn) and you'll be almost at the Bank Hotel. Cockburn Street may be a bit steep if you've got a lot of luggage, but otherwise it's just a short walk. Enjoy your stay.
