Eating out on Monday 7th November

I'm in town on business staying at the Roxburghe hotel (not my choice) and I'm looking for somewhere decent to eat for about 6 people. Don't want to do the tourist thing but a good italian or indian would be cool or something more middle of the road as long as the cooking is excellent with good ingredients.

I'm with my boss and another corporate guy and both like their food. Doesn't have to be expensive or the 'right' place to be seen. A Monday night worries me as many places are closed and many serve the weekend leftovers.

Any idea's appreciated.

Thanks

Not far from your hotel on Thistle St are some good restaurants:

1. Cafe Marlayne - french restaurant. Simple looking but amazing food at great prices.

2. Cafe St Honore - another french restaurant but more expensive.

3. Dusit - great thai restaurant

4. Fishers in the City - good fish restaurant.

Most of the Italians in Edinburgh are poor - however Centotre on George St is fairly good or try Valvolla and Crolla behind Harvey Nichols.

Indian food - Suruchi is quite nice.

The Daily Record's Tam Cowan knows a thing or two about food, and rates the Paparazzi Restaurant in Edinburgh 21 out of 25. And, yes, it's open on a Monday.

If you do a Google search with the information

paparazzi restaurant edinburgh

his review is on the first page second from the top.

Alas, it appears there are too many characters in the site name to list here.

Ended up going to the Dusit on Thistle street. It was indeed excellent and we had a great night. Very authentic Thai food and probably the best I've had outside of Bangkok. Very good staff as well. It was full on a Monday evening which also says a lot.

Thanks again.

The Roxburghe was dire. But that's another story.
